Job Description

Altus Group is looking for a Cost Consultant specializing in Electrical services to join our Development Advisory division at our Toronto office. The Consultant will assist senior staff in delivering high-quality cost consulting services, ensuring accurate and timely estimates for various construction sectors, as well as project management and monitoring.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare detailed electrical cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and equipment
  • Review electrical drawings and specifications to identify and quantify the scope of work
  • Assist in preparing estimates for electrical systems including power, lighting, fire alarm, and data systems
  • Source and compare supplier and subcontractor pricing to support accurate project costing
  • Assist with change order pricing and cost impact assessments throughout the project lifecycle
  • Maintain and update cost databases, benchmarks, and rate libraries
  • Liaise with project engineers, contractors, consultants, and clients on cost-related matters
  • Support project teams with budgeting, forecasting, and cost planning activities
  • Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within project timelines

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in electrical estimating, cost consulting, or construction cost management
  • Understanding of electrical systems including power, lighting, fire alarm, and data systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
  • Experience preparing quantity take-offs and detailed cost estimates
  • Knowledge of construction materials, labour pricing, and equipment costing
  • Experience sourcing and comparing supplier and subcontractor pricing
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software/tools
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field preferred
