Altus Group has an immediate opening for a Cost Analyst, Mechanical within our Cost Consulting & Project Management division in our downtown Calgary office. Working with our Cost Consulting team. The Cost Analyst, Mechanical, will provide technical support for a variety of cost consulting services to new and existing clients as directed by senior staff members in the Western region, and at times to support other Canadian regions, when required.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide a full range of cost estimates at various stages of the design process, from conceptual design to pre-tender stage for new and existing clients
  • Inspect and assess mechanical elements throughout various building and infrastructure projects, along with full trade and elemental take-off’s
  • Performing mechanical takeoffs using assorted means and methods
  • Collaborate with various internal/external partners to obtain the necessary information to prepare reports
  • Assist with Lifecycle Analysis (cost estimate, current condition, remaining life, maintenance cost, etc.)
  • Maintaining ongoing client communication and resolving issues as required
  • Managing client relationships in a manner that leads to contract renewal, referrals and service expansion including up-sells and cross-sells

Requirements:

  • 1-2+ years of related experience in mechanical cost consulting/estimating
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • An understanding of Mechanical and Plumbing systems and how they work in various types of buildings
  • Excellent communication skills – interpersonal, written & presentation
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of integrity, honesty and ethics
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, Word, and on-screen take-off
  • Understanding of the construction industry - development, contracting & consultant services

Nice to have:

Utilization of CIQS standard method of measurement – elemental/trade, Uniformat, working towards PQS and / or MRICS designation is an asset
