Robert Half is looking for a Cost Accounting Manager for a growing Cincinnati based company. The Cost Accounting Manager will perform advanced product cost analysis, prepare margin and variance reporting, and assess product costing methodologies and processes to support Operations, Finance, and Executive leadership efforts to improve the profitability of the business.
Job Responsibility
Calculate and analyze all product costs, including direct materials, direct labor, fixed and variable overhead
Develop the system, methodology, and procedures to improve accuracy of product costs to enable better pricing and investment decision-making
Analyze all manufacturing costs, identify savings opportunities, and work directly with Operations leadership to realize the savings
Evaluate and assign labor, variable, and fixed overhead rates to products
Develop models to accurately forecast and plan product costs and operations expenses
Compile monthly product cost information, maintain a historical database, and develop reporting to track cost changes
Review, analyze and report on company gross margins
Work with Operations leadership to determine, recommend, and implement cost-effective solutions
Support cost control efforts and develop reporting to track actualization of anticipated savings
Evaluate inventory levels, order rates, and backlog to support decisions on production planning, material purchasing, direct and indirect labor hiring, and discretionary spending
Assess inventory for excess and obsolescence, develop accounting reserve methodology compliant with GAAP
Requirements
7+ years of experience in cost accounting, with a strong background in manufacturing environments
Demonstrated expertise in cost analysis, standard costing, and manufacturing cost accounting principles
Proven ability to evaluate inventory, overhead, labor, and material costs with a high degree of accuracy
Experience creating forecasts, budgets, and financial models that support operational and commercial decision-making
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret margin performance and explain financial variances clearly
Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, production, and leadership teams to drive process and cost improvements
Proficiency in developing practical accounting methodologies and internal controls related to product costing
