Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Cost Accounting Assistant to support inventory accuracy and cost tracking within a manufacturing setting in Gardena, California. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can work part-time while partnering with multiple departments to help maintain reliable cost data and organized financial records. The person in this role will contribute to inventory analysis, cost review, and ongoing process support to help ensure reporting remains accurate and timely.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee cost accounting records and supporting documentation to keep financial and inventory information organized and up to date
  • Examine inventory, labor, and material costs to help maintain accurate product costing across operations
  • Support inventory movement and cost control activities that contribute to timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
  • Analyze production expenses, material usage, and stock levels, then share practical recommendations to improve accuracy and efficiency
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate manufacturing workflows and identify opportunities for stronger cost visibility
  • Monitor inventory activity through tracking, valuation, and physical count review to help maintain dependable stock records
  • Review bill of materials setup and confirm pricing data is accurate and aligned with current production needs
  • Reconcile inventory transactions against physical counts to reduce variances between system records and actual inventory
  • Help maintain labor and material cost standards and track production costs across different stages and storage locations
  • Provide additional accounting and inventory support duties as needed to meet operational priorities

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in accounting, inventory control, finance, or a business-related role with exposure to cost accounting
  • comparable education may also be considered
  • Proficiency with accounting software and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, invoice coding, and QuickBooks is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with financial data and inventory records
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, invoice coding, and QuickBooks is preferred
