We are looking for a skilled Cost Accountant to join our client's team in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role will focus on analyzing and managing manufacturing-related costs, supporting both domestic and international operations, and ensuring accuracy in cost structures and processes. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in manufacturing cost accounting and demonstrate expertise in leveraging data systems to derive actionable insights.
Job Responsibility:
Analyze and manage all components of manufacturing costs, including materials, labor, overhead, freight, and tariffs
Extract and interpret data from enterprise systems to evaluate cost structures and ensure accurate reporting
Collaborate with Canadian and global operations to support cost reporting and related initiatives
Partner with purchasing and engineering teams to verify the accuracy of cost data for new items and bill of materials
Work closely with operations to confirm system data accuracy and address discrepancies
Prepare and set budget-based standard costs, including material, labor, and overhead costs
Assist with annual budgeting processes and provide support during audits by compiling required documentation
Provide insights and recommendations to enhance cost efficiency and streamline processes
Travel occasionally to plant locations in Dover, Ohio, and Canada to support operations and maintain consistency in cost practices
Adapt to hybrid work schedules while maintaining flexibility around travel dates
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to manage complex cost structures
Ability to travel overnight, including international travel, with a valid passport
Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate across departments and management levels
High level of accountability, adaptability, and integrity in handling responsibilities with attention to detail
Nice to have:
Familiarity with AS400 systems, AX software, and Sage Intacct is advantageous
