Job Responsibility

  • Develop cost estimates for new projects during the quotation and development process
  • Compute cost by analyzing labor, material, and manufacturing time requirements
  • Determine cost goals (target costing), development of cost calculations for cost-oriented quotes on the basis information at hand
  • Provide costing information to support decision making and collaborate with other departments
  • Continuously monitor costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction during the entire product lifecycle
  • Monitor and report on cost trends and variances, identifying potential issues and proposing corrective actions
  • Participate in design reviews to identify cost reduction opportunities while maintaining quality standards
  • Work closely with project teams to ensure that cost targets are met or exceeded
  • Develop cost models and cost estimating tools to support accurate pricing and profitability analysis
  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate pricing and ensure cost competitiveness
  • Participate in the development of annual budgets and forecasts
  • Ensure compliance with financial and accounting policies and procedures
  • Develop and maintain accurate and timely cost data and documentation
  • Analysis and evaluation of competitor’s products benchmark
  • Execution of allocated estimated/actual comparisons
  • Support Sales and Purchasing with matters concerning price negotiations

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in technical field and accounting or 4 years related experience
  • 3+ years of experience in product costing, cost estimation, or related field preferably in the automotive industry
  • Knowledge of cost analysis and cost accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems i.e. SAP
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Extensive knowledge in Manufacturing processes, secondary operations and purchased parts
  • Understanding lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvements
