A well-positioned construction and infrastructure firm in San Diego County is looking for a Cost / Project Accountant to help manage detailed accounting related to job costing, project financials, and capital budgeting. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys tying financial outcomes directly to operational performance and project success. As Cost / Project Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate project financial data and reporting cost performance to leadership. You’ll work closely with project managers, estimators, and operations to understand labor, materials, and overhead impacts on financial results.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain job cost ledgers and project accounting records
Allocate direct and indirect costs across projects
Monitor project financials including revenue recognition and cost variances
Prepare cost reports, dashboards, and financial summaries
Assist in forecasting project budgets and profitability estimates
Reconcile subcontractor costs, change orders, and retainage accounting
Support audit and compliance activities for project billing
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
3–6 years of cost/project accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based environments
Strong analytical skills and cost accounting knowledge
Experience with job cost systems or ERP platforms a strong plus
