A growing food & beverage manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to step in on a contract basis and support ongoing operations. This role is ideal for a hands‑on professional who understands the pace, complexity, and compliance requirements of food manufacturing and can add value immediately with minimal ramp‑up.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain and analyze product costing in a food & beverage manufacturing environment
Perform standard and actual cost analysis, including labor, materials, overhead, and yield
Prepare and explain purchase price, labor, and production variances
Support inventory accounting, including: Cycle counts and physical inventories
WIP and finished goods reconciliation
Spoilage, shrink, and waste analysis
Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings
Partner with Operations to understand production drivers and cost gaps
Assist with month‑end close, including cost‑related journal entries and reconciliations
Support budgeting, forecasting, and margin analysis as needed
Ensure costing practices align with GAAP and food industry standards
Requirements:
Cost Accountant with manufacturing experience in Food & Beverage (required)
Strong understanding of: Standard costing
Inventory flows (raw materials, WIP, FG)
Production variances and yield analysis
Experience supporting plant or production‑based operations
ERP experience required (food manufacturing ERP experience a plus)
Advanced Excel skills
Able to work independently and hit the ground running
2+ years of experience in Cost Accounting
Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field preferred
