The Cost Accountant will be responsible for analyzing production, operational, and sales, preparing cost reports, and providing actionable insights to support decision-making. This role will help ensure accurate cost accounting and inventory valuation, while identifying opportunities to optimize profitability.
Job Responsibility:
Analyze manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, and overhead
Maintain standard cost systems and update as necessary
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports and variance analyses
Monitor inventory transactions and assist with periodic physical inventory counts
Support budgeting and forecasting processes with detailed cost data
Work with cross-functional teams (e.g., operations, purchasing, production, sales) to improve cost control measures and provide analytical support
Develop and maintain financial models to support cost projections, profitability analysis, and scenario planning
Assist with internal and external audits related to inventory and costing
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
Light domestic travel
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3–5 years of cost accounting or financial analysis experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, standard costing, inventory accounting and variance analysis
Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (Business Central) and advanced Excel skills
Experience with inventory management, bills of materials, and production cost tracking
Familiarity with GAAP and internal control practices
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data, prepare reports, and present findings to management
