Job Description:

Our client, a mission-driven organization, is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to help them optimize financial resources and ensure transparency in managing program budgets. This is a fantastic opportunity to combine your expertise in accounting with meaningful work that supports the community.

Job Responsibility:

Monitor and allocate costs for programs, grants, and operations to ensure compliance with funding requirements
Collaborate with program managers to create and manage budgets, and track actuals vs. projections across programs
Prepare detailed financial reports for grant providers, including cost breakdowns and expense allocation
Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal, state, and non-profit accounting regulations
Provide financial insights to leadership by analyzing cost trends and identifying opportunities for operational efficiency
Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets, and assist with audit preparations

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA or CMA certification preferred
3+ years of cost accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit industry
Strong familiarity with fund accounting, grant management, and compliance standards specific to non-profits
Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Fund EZ, or Sage Intacct, and advanced MS Excel skills
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Passion for the mission-driven work of non-profits and a commitment to integrity and accountability
