We are looking for a skilled Cost Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Everett, Washington. In this role, you will play a critical part in analyzing and managing costing processes within a manufacturing environment. Job Responsibility:
Conduct month-end closing activities related to inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS)
Analyze actual production costs and compare them to standard costs, preparing detailed reports to support business decisions
Develop and maintain accurate product costing, including raw materials, packaging, and finished goods
Evaluate changes in product design, manufacturing methods, or raw materials to determine their impact on costs
Prepare financial analyses related to manufacturing costs, inventory valuation, and operational expenses
Establish and maintain overhead and burden rates, collaborating with operations management to ensure precise calculations
Lead efforts in reviewing excess and obsolete inventory to minimize waste and improve financial efficiency
Support operational metrics analysis to evaluate plant efficiency and identify areas for improvement
Assist in documenting and improving policies, procedures, and internal controls related to cost accounting
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cost-reduction strategies and enhance overall profitability
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of standard and average cost accounting practices
Proficiency in analyzing cost components and financial data to support decision-making
Ability to manage inventory valuation and monitor cost of goods sold effectively
Skilled in developing and maintaining accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and cost structures
Experience with overhead rate calculations and operational efficiency analysis
Familiarity with ERP systems and advanced spreadsheet tools for financial reporting
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with various departments
