We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our team on a contract basis with the potential for a long-term position in Portland, Oregon. This role is centered on providing critical financial insights and cost management expertise within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will excel in cost analysis, inventory oversight, and collaborating across departments to drive accuracy and efficiency.
Job Responsibility:
Analyze and manage cost accounting processes to support manufacturing operations
Oversee inventory management and ensure accurate record-keeping
Audit and validate costs, addressing discrepancies such as missing freight charges and outdated records
Collaborate with teams to streamline and implement cost change updates
Evaluate and report on standard costs versus purchase price variances to identify areas for improvement
Contribute to the implementation and testing of Microsoft Dynamics 365, including managing bills of materials (BOMs)
Assist in transitioning from standard costing to a weighted average costing model for raw materials
Review and interpret data to provide actionable insights that align with business objectives
Take detailed meeting notes and proactively follow up on action items to ensure completion
Requirements:
At least 3 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing setting
Proficiency in D365 and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Strong knowledge of standard costing practices and inventory management
Proven ability to analyze data, solve problems, and think critically
Detail-oriented with the capacity to handle multiple priorities effectively
Self-motivated and able to work independently while also collaborating with teams
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with various departments
