Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our team on a contract basis with the potential for a long-term position in Portland, Oregon. This role is centered on providing critical financial insights and cost management expertise within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will excel in cost analysis, inventory oversight, and collaborating across departments to drive accuracy and efficiency.

Job Responsibility:

  • Analyze and manage cost accounting processes to support manufacturing operations
  • Oversee inventory management and ensure accurate record-keeping
  • Audit and validate costs, addressing discrepancies such as missing freight charges and outdated records
  • Collaborate with teams to streamline and implement cost change updates
  • Evaluate and report on standard costs versus purchase price variances to identify areas for improvement
  • Contribute to the implementation and testing of Microsoft Dynamics 365, including managing bills of materials (BOMs)
  • Assist in transitioning from standard costing to a weighted average costing model for raw materials
  • Review and interpret data to provide actionable insights that align with business objectives
  • Take detailed meeting notes and proactively follow up on action items to ensure completion

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing setting
  • Proficiency in D365 and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong knowledge of standard costing practices and inventory management
  • Proven ability to analyze data, solve problems, and think critically
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to handle multiple priorities effectively
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while also collaborating with teams
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with various departments
