Job Description:

This position interviews and assesses clients to determine individual needs, abilities, and eligibility for services by interpreting medical and psychological evaluations. Responsibilities include providing clients with information regarding available services and eligibility requirements to support informed decision-making and client choice. The position utilizes vocational assessments, rehabilitation counseling, and supportive services to empower clients in achieving independence and employment goals. Duties include developing rehabilitation plans in coordination with physicians, monitoring client progress, and assisting clients in creating an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) with clearly defined employment outcomes, progress measures, and identified client and counselor responsibilities. This role collaborates with local school districts and educational institutions to provide transition services for students and youth with disabilities. Additional responsibilities include working with employers to identify appropriate employment opportunities, providing job coaching and training, and delivering post-employment services to help clients maintain successful employment. The position also conducts financial needs and resource assessments to determine client participation in rehabilitation program costs and provides ongoing counseling throughout the rehabilitation process to ensure client needs are effectively addressed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree (typically in Counseling or Social Services)
  • 0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Vocational Rehabilitation)
  • Knowledge of industrial, commercial, and professional occupations suitable for disabled persons
  • Knowledge of available training facilities and employment opportunities for a variety of occupations
  • Knowledge of the psychological and social issues of the disabled
  • Knowledge of client data collection
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to the area of specification
  • Knowledge of vocational rehabilitation programs and procedures
  • Knowledge of the services offered by various community organizations
  • Skilled in creating and conducting presentations
  • Ability to track and maintain monthly expenses related to client needs

Nice to have:

  • Qualified to sit for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) exam
  • Knowledge of local employers and educational institutions
  • Experience using Google and Microsoft software
