Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Corporate Tax Staff Accountant to join our team on a Contract to permanent basis in Branford, Connecticut. In this role, you will focus on managing tax-related tasks, ensuring compliance, and handling various accounting functions for a mid-sized private firm. This position offers an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise in corporate tax and accounting software systems while contributing to the organization's financial operations.

Job Responsibility:

Oversee general accounting duties, with a focus on tax preparation and compliance
Support clients in financial statement preparation and general financial advisory services
Assist with audits, when necessary, but with tax as primary expertise
Prepare 1099s, payroll tax filings, and sales tax filings for clients
Utilize QuickBooks Online for client financials, reconciliations, and reporting
Collaborate with clients to ensure accurate and timely financial records

Requirements:

Recent public accounting with prior experience in tax and accounting services
Strong generalist background, with an emphasis on tax knowledge
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively with clients
Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate tax accounting or a related field
Proficiency in accounting software systems, including QuickBooks and CCH ProSystem fx
Strong knowledge of payroll tax reporting, sales tax returns, and Form 1099 preparation
Familiarity with Microsoft Access for financial data management and analysis
Demonstrated ability to handle complex tax preparation tasks with accuracy
Knowledge of applicable tax laws and regulations at federal, state, and local levels
Excellent organizational and analytical skills to manage multiple tasks effectively
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred
