Tax Manager is responsible for supporting the management of indirect taxes (Excise, VAT) for Canadian operations, ensuring compliance, supporting audit defense, and providing assistance with direct tax matters (corporate tax provision and filings).
Job Responsibility:
Support the preparation of quarterly tax provisions for both planning and statutory reporting purposes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Canadian tax requirements
Assist in government audits by gathering documentation, responding to queries, and facilitating resolution of audit matters
Oversee the completion of all direct tax compliance activities, including the timely and accurate filing of T1134s, T106s, withholding taxes, and other required tax forms
Support the end-to-end compliance for Excise and VAT, including licensing, governance, payments, and classification for all Canadian entities
Act as a point of contact for all indirect tax matters, including direct communication and dispute resolution with Canadian tax authorities
Coordinate with Legal and Supply Chain for product marking and customs-related issues as required
Lead the preparation, review, and filing of GST/VAT returns and payments
Support and lead audit defense for indirect tax matters
Assist in the preparation, review, and filing of corporate tax returns and provisions for Canadian entities
Supervise and mentor the Income Tax Analyst
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar tax management role, with a focus on indirect taxes in Canada
Strong knowledge of Canadian excise, VAT, and corporate tax legislation
Experience in audit defense and working with both internal and external auditors
Proficiency in tax compliance tools (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively across functions (Legal, Supply Chain, Finance)
Bilingualism (French and English) is required due to regular communication with internal and external stakeholders across Canada and internationally
