Job Description

About World Business Lenders (WBL) provides general purpose short-term real estate collateralized commercial loans to a broad customer base comprised of small and medium sized businesses throughout the United States that lack access to traditional funding. This is a Contract/Consultant position. Generally, working hours will be 9:00am-6:00pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, although hours worked may be greater based upon operational requirements. The job requires excellent oral and written command of the English language.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide legal advice and support on transactions, particularly those involving troubled assets, restructurings, bankruptcies, litigation, and portfolio administration
  • Support the business in preparing for trial proceedings and settlement negotiations
  • Work closely with lawyers and paralegals to ensure effective legal representation
  • Assist in establishing in Corporate Governance activities
  • Monitor regulatory environments to identify emerging compliance risks and requirements
  • develop strategic responses and guide cross-functional teams in implementing risk-based solutions aligned with business objectives
  • Travel to US as needed for on-site requirements

Requirements

  • Law degree (Juris Doctor or international equivalent such as LLB or LLM)
  • from a nationally accredited U.S. law school preferred
  • 6-10 years of experience with law firm required, in-house desirable
  • Strong knowledge of US federal state laws, regulations and licensing requirements related to residential and commercial mortgage lending and corporate governance
  • Strong understanding of litigation processes, discovery, document management and legal filings
  • Demonstrated ability to draft, review and negotiate legal documents with superior legal research and writing skills
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
