Job Description:

Reporting directly to the Executive General Manager – Strategy, Corporate Development and M&A, this newly established role plays a key part in shaping and executing Codan’s corporate strategy. The position supports the identification, evaluation and delivery of global investment and acquisition opportunities, and works closely with senior leaders, the Board, and business units across the organisation.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supporting the development, implementation and periodic review of Codan’s corporate strategic framework
  • Undertaking detailed research and analysis of potential investment and acquisition opportunities
  • Contributing to transaction execution activities, including pre-deal strategy, due diligence, commercial negotiations, transaction completion, and post-transaction integration
  • Analysing financial statements to identify core value drivers and developing robust projections of company performance supported by clearly articulated assumptions
  • Building and reviewing financial models to assess risk, value creation and expected returns
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly Board and executive materials
  • Partnering with business units to monitor the integration, performance and ongoing value delivery of investee and acquired businesses
  • Supporting ad-hoc strategic and commercial projects for the Board and broader business as required

Requirements:

  • early-career professional experience within transactional and/or strategic environments, such as corporate development, finance, accounting, management consulting or professional transaction services
  • strong commercial acumen
  • sound financial modelling capability
  • ability to critically analyse and clearly communicate complex financial and strategic information
  • confident and professional communicator, capable of engaging and influencing stakeholders across multiple business units, disciplines and geographies
  • tertiary qualification in finance, law, engineering or a related discipline is advantageous
