Institutional Credit Management (ICM) is a key pillar of the Client Organization and stands as Citi's first line of defense in-business credit risk function, overseeing all wholesale credit risk activities for institutional clients by delivering integrated, end-to-end excellence in wholesale credit underwriting, identification, measurement, management, and monitoring across the enterprise. The Global Credit Underwriting function (ICM UW) provides best-in-class credit analysis, underwriting, and approval, and ongoing credit monitoring for Banking, Services, and Markets Clients, thereby safeguarding Citi’s credit exposures while helping drive new business for the firm.
Job Responsibility:
Lead a large team of best-in-class credit subject matter experts who underwrite, provide credit approval/sanction, and execute ongoing monitoring of assigned portfolio of large corporate credits
Serve as ICM Legal Entity and Site Head for Citicorp Services India Private Limited (CSIPL) and as ICM’s liaison to the India Consolidated Service Centre (CSC) Leadership teams
Tireless focus on hiring, retaining, and developing a high-performance culture
Embed a culture of operational excellence
Aggressive adopter and promoter of leading practices in the use of Artificial Intelligence
Provide thought leadership and process direction to front line Business Coverage, Capital Markets and Risk partners
Provide ad-hoc updates to Risk and senior leadership
Ensure proper management of team resources and serve as a key point of contact for the team for escalations / guidance
Review and approval of Credit Approval Memo (CAM) packages as senior Business Credit Approver
Facilitate relationships with key regulators, internal audit, and control functions
Support Senior Management on strategic initiatives / projects
Requirements:
20+ years of experience
10+ years' managerial experience
Senior credit officer (SCO) authority covering large and complex relationships across investment and non-investment grade portfolios, capital commitments, derivatives with multi-industry experience
Demonstrated expertise in and exposure to global credit risk management standards
Ability to understand capital markets products, complex financing, complex cross-border exposures and product structures
Ability to provide strategic insights and strong sensitivity to macro and regulatory issues
Able to discuss and address issues associated with the allocation of risk assets and risk capital
Proven ability to understand nuances of local markets, local regulation, and the capabilities and practices of competitors
Navigates organizational complexity and breaks silos
Creates and sustains a network of strong partnerships with Citi’s Businesses and others critical stakeholders including Risk Management, Finance, Compliance, and Human Resources
Proven experience of managing large teams
Proven track record of partnering with global peers in leveraging and implementation of best practices
Proven ability to execute strategic projects and initiatives
Proven ability to effectively engage with regulators and internal control functions including Internal Audit and Fundamental Credit Risk as well as with external audit
