Job Description

Baxter is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Corporate Counsel – Ethics & Compliance (E&C) to play a critical role in advancing the company’s E&C Program and strengthening a culture of integrity across the organization. Reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel - Ethics & Compliance, this role serves as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert, providing practical, risk‑based compliance guidance to internal business stakeholders and the E&C operations team to support compliant, ethical, and responsible business conduct.

Job Responsibility

  • Advise internal business teams on compliance with Baxter’s policies and procedures, and applicable laws, regulations, and industry codes to support execution of ethical business initiatives
  • Increase partnership with internal business teams to promote a culture of integrity and accountability through focused and effective communication, training, and engagement
  • Support internal E&C outreach and awareness campaigns
  • Develop and deliver compliance training and communications that advance the E&C Program
  • Partner with Legal and other cross- functional teams to identify and mitigate compliance risks while enabling business objectives
  • Work with cross functional teams, including the E&C operations team, to support the implementation and continuous improvement of Baxter’s E&C Program
  • Escalate issues as appropriate and collaborate with Legal and Compliance leadership on risk management strategies
  • Monitor and stay current on changes in healthcare laws, regulations, and industry codes, and assess their impact on business activities
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
  • Be able to act independently and as a self-starter

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal or compliance experience in the healthcare industry
  • experience in pharmaceutical or medical device companies strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of U.S. healthcare compliance frameworks, including laws and industry codes governing interactions with healthcare professionals, institutions, and government officials (e.g., U.S. Fraud and Abuse laws, AdvaMed Code)
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate compliance requirements into practical guidance
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • ability to influence and partner effectively across a matrixed organization
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with sound judgment
  • Uncompromising integrity and attention to detail
