Job Description

Corporate Controller – Remote EST & CST – SaaS (Proptech) Our team is working with a venture-funded app for real estate brokers looking to hire a Corporate Controller for their growing team. The Corporate Controller will oversee all day-to-day accounting operations and play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of financial reporting. This position partners closely with the CFO on strategic initiatives, including funding rounds, system implementations, and revenue recognition. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented leader with experience in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment, ideally within SaaS, who thrives in both operational execution and cross-functional collaboration. This role is a full-time remote position open to candidates in U.S. Eastern and Central time zones, which will offer a base of between 160-180K base, bonus, equity & strong benefits. Candidates on the West Coast will not be considered.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage and optimize core accounting functions, including payroll, accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), and corporate accounting
  • Lead the full month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
  • Oversee general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, and supporting schedules)
  • Serve as the key leader for accounting system transitions, including hands-on experience with QuickBooks Pro and the successful integration/migration to a large-scale ERP system
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and internal controls to enhance efficiency and scalability as the company grows
  • Ensure accurate ASC 606 revenue recognition and reporting, including contract review, performance obligation identification, and related disclosures
  • Maintain robust compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal policies
  • Work closely with the FP&A team on budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling to provide actionable insights
  • Partner with other departments (e.g., operations, sales, and HR) to support business initiatives and resolve accounting-related issues
  • Collaborate directly with the CFO on preparation for funding rounds, including due diligence, financial modeling, investor reporting, and audit readiness
  • Contribute to strategic financial planning, cash flow management, and ad-hoc projects as the company scales

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • at least 3–5 years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role (SaaS/PropTech or high-growth startup experience preferred)
  • Strong hands-on expertise in payroll, AR, AP, month/quarter/year-end close, and corporate accounting
  • Proven experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition and reporting
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Pro and demonstrated success leading the integration or migration to a large ERP system (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or similar)
  • Experience supporting funding rounds, investor communications, or due diligence processes
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly with FP&A teams
  • Experience in a venture-backed or rapidly scaling technology company
