This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious lawyer looking to take the next step in their career while gaining exposure to sophisticated commercial transactions and high-profile development projects across Alberta. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and entrepreneurial legal team that advises a diverse client base on a broad range of commercial matters. The practice includes significant exposure to commercial real estate, property development, lending and finance transactions, corporate reorganizations, and complex commercial agreements. This role offers a unique balance of mentorship and autonomy. You will work alongside experienced partners on large, sophisticated transactions while also managing your own files and client relationships. As your practice develops, you will have the opportunity to take increasing ownership of major transactions and play a meaningful role in the continued growth of the practice.
Job Responsibility
Lead and assist with acquisitions, dispositions, commercial leasing matters, and property development transactions
Support clients through all stages of development projects, from acquisition through completion
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial lending and financing documentation
Advise both borrowers and lenders on secured financing transactions
Draft and negotiate commercial agreements, shareholder agreements, corporate reorganizations, and general business contracts
Provide strategic legal advice on a broad range of commercial matters
Independently manage files from inception through closing
Deliver high-quality work while effectively managing deadlines and competing priorities
Build and maintain strong client relationships through practical, business-focused legal advice
Contribute to client retention and long-term growth of the practice.
Requirements
Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta, or eligible for immediate membership
4–6 years of post-call experience in corporate/commercial law
Strong experience in one or more of: Commercial real estate
Property development
Commercial lending and finance
Corporate/commercial transactions
Proven ability to manage files independently with minimal supervision
Strong drafting, negotiation, and client management skills
Collaborative and team-oriented approach to practice.
