We are seeking a seasoned Corporate Associate General Counsel to join our Legal team, reporting to the Head of Legal. This role will serve as a key legal advisor across HR, Finance, and executive leadership, delivering expert counsel on employment law, compensation strategies, and organizational compliance. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of law firm and in-house experience with a strong foundation in U.S. employment regulations, executive compensation, and equity programs. This is a strategic position that directly supports 1X's growth and people operations.
Job Responsibility:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
Provide day-to-day legal support to HR on employee relations, performance management, terminations, investigations, and workplace policies
Draft, review, and update employment-related documents
Advise on the design, administration, and compliance of compensation programs
Partner with Finance, HR, and external counsel on executive compensation matters
Oversee compliance with tax and securities laws related to compensation
Support the governance and administration of stock option and RSU programs
Advise on global expansion of equity programs and cross-border compliance issues
Develop and maintain global employment policies, handbooks, and training materials
Monitor legal developments in employment and compensation and advise on their business impact
Support internal investigations and compliance programs
Requirements:
JD (or equivalent) and an active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
10+ years of legal experience, including time at a reputable law firm and in-house legal team
Strong expertise in U.S. employment law, compensation, and equity incentive programs
Familiarity with executive compensation, tax, and securities law considerations
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
Business-oriented mindset with the ability to deliver practical legal advice
Experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments
Ability to collaborate effectively with HR, Finance, and senior leadership
Nice to have:
Exposure to international employment law and global workforce compliance is a plus
