As our Coronary Care - Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) at CHI St Vincent, you will specialize in the care of patients with acute and critical heart conditions. Monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following PCI, CHF(new onset or exacerbation) , extensive injury, surgery, or life-threatening disease. CCU nurses are highly skilled professionals who play a vital role in the care of patients with serious heart conditions. You’ll provide continued care and perform procedures as detailed in the care plan. This could mean assisting a physician with a chest tube or central line, monitoring hemodynamically unstable patients with Impella, CRRT, Temp pacer, ensuring patients MRI or CT, or administering critical medications. To thrive in this role, you’ll heavily depend on your ability to multitask and anticipate care needs in a face paced environment.. You’ll clinically care for your patients- remaining focused and attentive as you continuously monitor your patients throughout your shift. You also serve as their advocate- supporting their best interests when they cannot. However, it’s your sound judgment during an emergency and rapid response are impressive which puts you on the radar for advancement.
Job Responsibility
Specialize in the care of patients with acute and critical heart conditions

Provide continued care and perform procedures as detailed in the care plan
Assess, plan, and implement nursing care while ensuring patient comfort
Anticipate, identify, and respond to informational and emotional needs of patients and families
Guide and direct healthcare personnel (i.e., Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients
Maintain knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, drainage devices, temp pacer, CRRT, SWAN, Impella)
Utilize safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms with necessary
Initiate emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury)
Assist with patient care duties/tasks (i.e., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene)
Requirements
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, upon hire
Registered Nurse license in good standing, State of Arkansas or compact state license required prior to start date
12 months of acute care experience (new graduates or nurses who have never worked in an acute care setting are hired through our residency training program)
