The Copywriter and Content is a strategic communicator and writer who leads content development and monitors growing trends in the nonprofit, education, and social sectors. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys finding the connection that links the work of subject matter experts and external storytelling. Someone who thrives on transforming ideas, research, and field insights into clear, compelling content that drives influence, learning, and engagement will excel in this role.
Job Responsibility:
Develop or review high-quality, strategic, and values-aligned long-form content, such as white papers, research briefs, thought leadership pieces, grant proposals, board and external reports, and case studies
Serve as the lead writer and editor for major public-facing written products
Develop or review high-quality, short-form content, including mass emails, blog posts, talking points, scripts, and presentations
Ensures consistent branding, messaging, and storytelling throughout all written materials produced
Project management initiatives to ensure delivery of content, including the development and implementation of project plans, timelines, and processes
In collaboration with subject matter experts, develop success metrics for project-based content and external engagement, measure, and track
Translate complex ideas, research findings, and program learnings into accessible, external, and internal engagement resources
Collect, develop, and maintain the repository of stories, results, and frameworks that reflect our values and impact
Build and maintain a content library that catalogs existing PE materials and research
Monitor emerging trends in the fields of education, workforce development, philanthropy, and evidence-based practices
Incorporate industry trends into written materials
Develop tools and processes to facilitate staff's easy sharing of knowledge and access to key messages and resources
Contribute to strategic and communications planning around campaigns, events, and high-visibility content moments
Contribute to and maintain content calendars and other processes
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required
7-10 years of experience in copywriting and editing, communications, journalism, and content development in the research, data, technology, social, and/or education sectors
Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit, education, and technology policy
Demonstrated willingness to use and learn new technologies for communication
Exceptional writing and editing skills, especially with long-form and narrative formats
Strong ability to distill complexity into clear, engaging, and structured communication, with data visualization skills a plus
Adept at working across teams, managing multiple deadlines, and maintaining quality under pressure
Understanding of how content supports influence, visibility, and development outcomes
High proficiency in Google and Microsoft software, including Docs/Word, Slides/PowerPoint, Sheets/Excel, and Asana and Salesforce
Proficient in using technology with a strong curiosity and willingness to learn new systems
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills
Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to navigate evolving priorities in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
