Job Description:

Social media content development, graphic design, and broadcast texting. Want to break into social media, texting, and digital strategy for politics? Social media management, content development, and text messaging are both growing and in-demand fields in progressive politics. This job is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor with a growing team at Middle Seat and learn the ins & outs of running social media profiles and large-scale texting programs for Democratic candidates and organizations. We’re looking for self-starters who love to write, spend time on social media, and follow politics and the news of the day. This role is a part of the bargaining unit.

Job Responsibility:

  • Contribute to the management of client social media accounts and texting programs: growing social followings, collecting SMS opt-ins, and raising money online
  • Take the first pass at gathering data for reports, both internal and client-facing
  • Create content and post on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and other client social media platforms with a consistent, robust, and responsive posting cadence for each platform
  • Create graphics and short-form videos for social media platforms
  • Research issues relevant to our clients to identify salient topics and content for social media posts and graphics
  • Manage texting production and develop other assets, such as mobile flows, landing pages, donation pages, and more
  • Provide support to client leads on texting acquisition, including organizing materials, drafting copy, and updating vendors
  • Draft fundraising copy for text messages
  • Support the social & texting team on various projects
  • Remain plugged in to political news and overall trends in progressive politics and social media – including trending templates, sounds, memes, and more
  • Learn best practices for social media & text message fundraising, messaging campaigns, and platforms as they integrate into the entire digital program and into an organization’s mission
  • Other responsibilities as requested

Requirements:

  • Interest in professional social media management for political campaigns as well as online fundraising to help elect progressives
  • Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of progressive politics
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms and trends
  • Strong copywriting skills
  • Ability to write and adapt copy for various social media platforms
  • Writing is free of errors
  • Ability to adapt writing to conform to client voices and perspectives
  • Attention to detail while managing tight deadlines and multiple content calendars
  • Basic graphic design and video editing skills preferred but not required

Nice to have:

  • Agency or campaign experience
  • Experience working in social media, texting, and digital strategy
  • Knowledge of different CRMs (Action Kit, BSD, Action Network, NGP, etc.)
What we offer:
  • 100% premium coverage for health, dental and vision
  • Zero deductible health plan
  • Wellness benefits, which include free memberships to One Medical, Health Advocate, and Talkspace
  • Profit-sharing plan: share in the growth and success of Middle Seat
  • Mobile phone reimbursement up to $50 per month
  • 6% employer match on your 401k retirement account
  • 20 paid vacation days off, plus your birthday and your Anniversary at Middle Seat
  • Unlimited sick leave
  • Commuter benefits for public transportation
  • Office Space (WeWork, etc) Stipend for Remote Employees
  • 12 weeks of paid leave for new parents
  • $100 monthly student loan reimbursement
  • $350 monthly mental health benefit
  • $1,000 annual professional development reimbursement
