Job Description

The Coordinator, Community Outreach & Group Visits plays a key role in expanding access to Old Dominion University through the planning, coordination, and execution of group visit experiences and outreach initiatives for K-12 students, community-based organizations, and school partners. This position oversees group tours and related programming for prospective students while also supporting outreach efforts that introduce younger students, including elementary and middle school audiences, to college pathways and the Monarch experience. Working closely with the Visit Experience and recruitment teams, the coordinator helps create welcoming, engaging, and mission-aligned experiences that advance the University’s recruitment, community engagement, and enrollment goals.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required. Or a bachelor’s degree with related work experience equivalent to a master’s degree
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service, student services, community outreach, admissions, or event coordination with knowledge of relevant systems and operational processes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, families, school counselors, educators, and community partners
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to coordinate logistics for group visits, outreach events, and school-based programs
  • Ability to represent the University professionally in both on-campus and off-campus settings

Nice to have

  • Previous experience working in higher education, admissions, community outreach, K-12 engagement, or a visitor center setting
  • Experience coordinating outreach initiatives for school-aged students, including elementary, middle, and high school populations
