Job Description

The Cook I prepares and executes high-quality menu items across all meal periods while independently managing a kitchen station. Ensures consistent quality, food safety, and adherence to recipes and standards, while supporting team operations and maintaining efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Independently manage a kitchen station, preparing and executing menu items to order while following recipes, portion control, and presentation standards
  • Ensure proper mise en place, maintain quality control (taste, temperature, plating), and support efficient service flow through clear communication
  • Uphold cleanliness, organization, and HACCP food safety standards while assisting with inventory, prep, and stock rotation
  • Operate, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment safely and properly
  • Monitor food levels and production needs, minimize waste, track shortages, and store perishable items according to policy
  • Support and guide junior team members in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment

Requirements

  • Successful candidate must possess legal work authorization in United States
  • The hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four (24) hours a day and scheduled days and times may vary based on need. Holidays and weekends availability is required
  • Required by the Hawaii State Department of Health to obtain a Tuberculous (TB) clearance card
  • Hawaii Food Handler's Card and ServSafe is required for this role
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 70 lbs, and push/pull as needed during shifts
  • Ability to operate, maintain and properly clean all equipment and utensils. Proficient knife skills and ability to multi-task
  • Advanced culinary knowledge is expected for this position
