The Cook I prepares and executes high-quality menu items across all meal periods while independently managing a kitchen station. Ensures consistent quality, food safety, and adherence to recipes and standards, while supporting team operations and maintaining efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility
Independently manage a kitchen station, preparing and executing menu items to order while following recipes, portion control, and presentation standards
Ensure proper mise en place, maintain quality control (taste, temperature, plating), and support efficient service flow through clear communication
Uphold cleanliness, organization, and HACCP food safety standards while assisting with inventory, prep, and stock rotation
Operate, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment safely and properly
Monitor food levels and production needs, minimize waste, track shortages, and store perishable items according to policy
Support and guide junior team members in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment
Requirements
Successful candidate must possess legal work authorization in United States
The hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four (24) hours a day and scheduled days and times may vary based on need. Holidays and weekends availability is required
Required by the Hawaii State Department of Health to obtain a Tuberculous (TB) clearance card
Hawaii Food Handler's Card and ServSafe is required for this role
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 70 lbs, and push/pull as needed during shifts
Ability to operate, maintain and properly clean all equipment and utensils. Proficient knife skills and ability to multi-task
Advanced culinary knowledge is expected for this position
