Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field. Additional experience may substitute for the degree
7+ years of experience as a data center operations technician
Previous people management within a Data Center experience is required
Demonstrated successful experience meeting data center production/operation schedules

Job Responsibility

Manage a team of datacenter operation engineers and maintain a better than 99.999% uptime through impeccable housekeeping and robust operational discipline
Report on operational performance to the leadership team
Recommend changes in procedures or equipment that would increase productivity, reduce cost, and better serve Data Center requirements and customers
Train employees on policies and procedures and engage them in change
Recommend employees for hiring, firing, promotions and demotions
Provide input on pay reviews
Prepare and perform performance appraisals
Monitor and prioritize an internal ticketing system
Provide operating system storage troubleshooting, along with storage upgrades, hardware troubleshooting and Raid configuration changes
Provide hardware support and upgrades for servers running Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Server, Ubuntu Linux or VMWare ESX Server

Requirements

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Electronics, Computer Science, or related field
1-3 years of experience as data center technician, data center operator, or data center operations
Basic knowledge of servers, networking fundamentals, and operating systems (Windows/Linux)
Understanding of data center cabling, power, and cooling concepts is an advantage
Ability to follow SOPs and troubleshooting guidelines
Good communication skills and a strong willingness to learn

Job Responsibility

Monitor data center systems, alarms, and environmental conditions
Perform basic hardware tasks such as server installation, replacement, cabling, and rack maintenance
Support power and cooling infrastructure by following operational checklists
Respond to incidents, alerts, and service requests as per SOPs
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance
Follow security, safety, and access control procedures at all times
Maintain logs, tickets, and asset documentation
Support infrastructure moves, changes, and upgrades
Work in shifts and participate in on-call support if required

Job Responsibility

Operate and maintain critical and non-critical data center infrastructure, equipment, and systems
Work with a team of CFTs to deliver total availability (100% uptime) while minimizing risks
Monitor power, cooling capacity, and environmental conditions within the data halls
Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) as a tool to manage all planned and unplanned data center work
Perform preventive maintenance on data center electrical and mechanical equipment
Assist with the development, revision, and execution of approximately 200 operating procedures and preventive maintenance inspections, and perform quality control reviews to ensure accuracy, clarity, and continual improvement
Assist with the development of Data Center standards and policies when necessary
Resolve all electrical and mechanical issues within the Data Center quickly while minimizing risk and properly communicate issues to the appropriate chain of command
Respond to emergencies and critical issues as necessary and work independently and as a team, according to staffing and situation, towards complete recovery
Troubleshoot and document technical issues, escalates as appropriate, and ensure issue resolution
