As the Controls Engineer you will plan, design, and execute electrical engineering and controls work associated with all aspects of manufacturing and assembly equipment, including custom integration and purchased machinery.
Job Responsibility:
Provide controls and electrical engineering design and programming for custom assembly applications including hardware specification, integration, electrical BOM, and schematics
Facilitate advanced troubleshooting and repair of equipment in conjunction with maintenance and engineering personnel
Ensure machine safety by reading, interpreting, and applying relevant codes, updating design specifications and modifying existing equipment as needed
Control all programs and electrical equipment drawings and ensure current revisions are available for the maintenance staff
Support new product development by collaborating with engineering and project teams for assembly and testing solutions, including traditional products and electronic platforms
Provide guidance and technical solutions for Engineering and Manufacturing initiatives, projects, and improvement activities
Support design and implementation of automated manufacturing technology, including robotics, vision systems, and advanced motion control
Maintain shop floor data system applications, including collaboration with other engineering groups, operations, and IT
Identify and develop new hardware, software, and controls technology applications
Work with integrators and machine builders in multiple aspects including design reviews and development of automation equipment as well as outsourced panel construction
Execute improvement opportunities and strategic projects for the facility
Develop business case and Capital Expenditure Requests for the purchase of new or replacement controls hardware, including end-of-life and obsolescence
Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization
Compile, prepare, and present data for project updates and presentations

Requirements:
BSEE from accredited four-year college or university
Preferred at least two (2) years of experience in controls design, panel construction, and PLC programming in a high volume assembly environment with cellular, semi-automated, and fully automated processes
Knowledge of specifying, integrating, and programming multiple aspects of automated and semi-automated equipment, including, but not limited to, robotics, motion control, vision, digital/analog sensors, and variable frequency drives
Functional knowledge of machine safety and wiring standards, including relevant code requirements
Functional knowledge of network architecture and infrastructure
Detailed problem solving and troubleshooting skills
