Job Description

The Controls & Automation Technician is part of a team responsible for operating, maintaining and upgrading Isar Aerospace’s engine test facility located at Esrange in the Swedish Arctic. The role encompasses responsibility for the test facility's electrical system, including schematic design, construction, commissioning, and operational troubleshooting.

Job Responsibility

  • Wire and commission test facility electrical and pneumatic elements of automated control systems, including sensors, actuators, and controls panels and cabinets
  • Perform basic upgrades and troubleshooting on the facility PLC system
  • Prepare engines and related subsystems for development and flight testing
  • Own and maintain relevant tooling and equipment
  • Perform maintenance on the facility electrical system, and develop and keep current the maintenance plan
  • Assess and mitigate safety risks for electrical systems
  • Lead and execute continuous improvement projects to develop an efficient and presentable team workspace
  • Support operations as required, including performing manual operations on pressurized and cryogenic systems

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field
  • Proven experience as an electrician, preferably in a high-tech or industrial setting
  • Familiarity with ATEX regulations, high-pressure environments, and cryogenic systems is highly desirable
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Fluent in English

Nice to have

  • Occupational trade school qualification in an electrical field
  • Fluent in Swedish

  • Remotely monitoring the status of critical devices including electrical and mechanical components, circuitry, controls, robotics and other manufacturing machinery and assist in service, repair, and calibration of these devices for multiple OSB and lumber mills
  • Analyzing and identifying causes of system issues and assist in breakdown recovery
  • Assisting in set-up of new and replacement equipment
  • Providing programming support for day-to-day process changes
  • Troubleshooting as needed in coordination with onsite technicians
  • Answering and logging system issues or requests for assistance from automated system monitors or mill manufacturing staff
