Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Dallas, Texas. This pivotal role will involve overseeing financial operations, ensuring the accuracy of accounting records, and providing strategic insights to support decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in accounting, exceptional leadership skills, and a proactive approach to managing complex financial processes.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage all aspects of financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements and reports to support business decisions
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering growth and collaboration
  • Serve as the primary resource for Yardi software, providing expertise and troubleshooting support
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations
  • Handle complex accounting issues related to partnerships and investment companies, employing advanced technical expertise
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, investors, and external advisors to provide clear and concise financial insights
  • Ensure proper documentation and control of financial records, maintaining integrity and accessibility
  • Monitor and manage equity and dividend accounting methods to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills to analyze and compile financial data effectively

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Active CPA license
  • 12–15+ years of relevant experience, ideally with a background in public accounting and exposure to real estate funds, partnerships, and investment companies
  • 3–5+ years of experience managing teams and leading accounting operations
  • Strong expertise in partnership and investment company accounting, with the ability to resolve complex financial challenges
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis
  • Hands-on experience with Yardi software is highly preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management and external stakeholders
