This role is integral to managing and overseeing financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance across all accounting functions.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and preparation of financial statements
Ensure the integrity of the general ledger by maintaining the chart of accounts, accounting policies, and audit-ready documentation
Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows, collaborating with third-party property managers to address rent, expenses, and corrections
Review and enforce the accuracy and timeliness of reporting provided by third-party property managers
Manage office and retail reconciliations, ensuring precision and compliance
Lead treasury and payment controls, including banking oversight, cash tracking, reserves management, and processing distributions and wires
Handle transaction accounting for acquisitions, dispositions, and refinances, including standardizing financials post-close
Coordinate with external auditors for year-end close and tax compliance
Support lender reporting requirements and compliance portals as necessary
Monitor key deadlines related to entity filings, property taxes, insurance renewals, and other accounting compliance matters
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial real estate accounting, with a preference for office or retail properties
At least 10 years of overall accounting experience
Demonstrated expertise in managing month-end close processes
Hands-on experience with office and retail property reconciliations
Proficiency in treasury and cash control activities within lean organizational environments
Familiarity with overseeing reporting from third-party property managers is strongly preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Strong knowledge of financial reporting and general ledger operations
