Job Description

Robert Half Talent Solutions is partnering with a manufacturer seeking a Controller to lead its finance function during a pivotal stage of growth. This role is a high-visibility, hands-on leadership role reporting directly to executive leadership. This position offers meaningful exposure to contract financial management, strategic planning, and long-term growth initiatives, and is ideal for a manufacturing controller who can blend strong technical accounting expertise with the ability to serve as a trusted business partner to leadership.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee cash flow, ensuring adequate liquidity for operations
  • Deliver weekly cash reporting to executive leadership
  • Lead annual operating and capital budgeting processes
  • Analyze budget vs. actual results and identify risks/opportunities
  • Develop and execute action plans to address financial gaps
  • Manage AP/AR functions with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
  • Forecast payment timing aligned to cash flow and contract billing cycles
  • Monitor AR aging and proactively address collection risks
  • Ensure proper documentation and transaction classification standards
  • Review inventory balances for accuracy and reasonableness
  • Ensure proper alignment between inventory sub-ledger and general ledger
  • Prepare and deliver financial reports to executive leadership and ownership
  • Enhance reporting to provide actionable, decision-driving insights
  • Lead transition to audited financial statements and manage external auditors
  • Oversee month-end closing, including key balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Manage fixed assets, including capitalization and depreciation
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and support revenue growth initiatives
  • Establish and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Lead and develop accounting team members
  • Improve processes and document workflows to reduce risk and inefficiency
  • Ensure compliance with government contracting requirements (FAR/DFARS awareness)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA or CMA preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a Controller or senior leadership role
  • Manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to operate both hands-on and strategically in a lean environment
  • Experience with ERP systems (Infor SyteLine a plus)
  • Exposure to ERP implementation or system transformation initiatives
  • Advanced Excel and strong proficiency in accounting systems
  • Proven communicator, confident presenting to executive leadership
