Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled Controller to join our client on a contract basis. This role is critical in maintaining financial operations and ensuring the smooth functioning of all accounting processes during a transitional period. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership and technical expertise to support the finance team and uphold organizational stability.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee month-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Prepare comprehensive financial statements and review them for accuracy and compliance
  • Conduct detailed analysis of financial statements to identify trends and variances
  • Manage accounting operations, including general ledger activities and accounts payable
  • Provide oversight for payroll accounting processes and collaborate on employee benefits and compensation
  • Supervise a team of six, including direct reports and accounts payable staff, ensuring productivity and efficiency
  • Coordinate with external auditors to support audit processes and provide necessary documentation
  • Maintain organizational financial stability during the interim period, ensuring all systems and processes remain operational
  • Assist in evaluating and planning for the potential replacement of outdated accounting software
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to address financial inquiries and support ongoing projects

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Strong knowledge of month-end close processes and general ledger management
  • Expertise in accounts payable and payroll accounting
  • Ability to manage and lead a team effectively, ensuring high performance
  • Familiarity with variance analysis and financial reporting
  • Experience with Great Plains or similar accounting software
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with internal teams and external auditors
  • Ability to adapt to a transitional environment and maintain organizational stability
