We are looking for a Controller to lead core accounting activities for a growing company in Utah county with operations tied to project-based work. This position will partner closely with finance and operational leaders to deliver reliable financial reporting, strengthen controls, and support informed business decisions. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with job costing, revenue recognition, and lender-related transactions in a fast-moving environment. Job Responsibility
Oversee the monthly close cycle by recording journal entries, completing reconciliations, reviewing project costs, and preparing timely financial statements
maintain detailed contract and job cost schedules across multiple service lines to support visibility into project progress and overall margin performance
match lender disbursements and customer-related cash activity to underlying project records to ensure accuracy and completeness
partner with operational teams to align project milestones, incurred costs, and revenue timing across accounting records and business systems
contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial variance reviews so leadership can evaluate results by division and market
enhance accounting procedures, internal controls, and documentation practices to support growth and improve consistency
prepare cash flow and profitability reporting across product categories, geographic markets, and customer segments
assist with refining financial workflows and systems that improve scalability, reporting quality, and day-to-day efficiency
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred
at least 2 years of accounting experience, ideally within construction, solar, roofing, or another project-driven industry
working knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting, job costing, and revenue recognition principles
experience using QuickBooks Online and advanced Excel for analysis, reconciliation, and reporting tasks
familiarity with project accounting tools or contract management systems in a high-volume setting
strong analytical skills with close attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
collaborative mindset with an interest in improving processes and building stronger financial operations
