We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead the financial operations of a private equity-backed family office based in Lubbock, Texas. This position involves managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and implementing effective accounting processes across a diverse portfolio of companies, investments, and personal entities. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting expertise, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to operate with discretion in a confidential environment.
Job Responsibility:
Direct the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes for the family office and associated entities
Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements, management reports, and ensure compliance with accounting standards
Manage cash flow, intercompany transactions, and capital allocations to optimize financial efficiency
Develop and maintain robust internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy
Oversee payroll operations, including health and retirement benefits administration
Track and record investment activities, including capital contributions, distributions, valuations, and gains
Collaborate with deal teams on accounting for acquisitions, dispositions, and other transactions
Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure timely filing of tax documents and compliance with tax strategies
Manage audits, reviews, and valuations in collaboration with external auditors
Lead and mentor accounting staff or outsourced providers, fostering growth and collaboration
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in private equity, family offices, or multi-entity environments
Expertise in accounting standards, consolidation procedures, and investment accounting
Proven ability to exercise discretion, integrity, and professionalism in a confidential setting
Familiarity with accounting systems such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar platforms
Experience collaborating with auditors, valuation firms, and tax advisors
Highly organized and detail-oriented with a hands-on approach to problem-solving
Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
