We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Controller to join our client's team in Alexandria, Louisiana. In this position, you will oversee financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies. This role requires exceptional leadership abilities, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage a diverse range of accounting functions within a manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee financial reporting processes to ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports in compliance with GAAP and internal standards
Maintain and update the general ledger to reflect accurate financial data
Supervise day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, inventory accounting, and general accounting, ensuring efficiency and accuracy
Manage inventory accounting tasks, including physical inventory checks and maintaining fixed asset ledgers
Develop and maintain cost accounting processes within the manufacturing facility
Assist in preparing annual budgets and monthly forecast updates for the plant
Lead and support quality initiatives and Responsible Care programs to align with organizational goals
Provide leadership and direction to accounting staff, fostering process improvements and team development
Analyze financial and operational data to enhance company performance and support decision-making
Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and internal controls
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in cost accounting
At least 2 years of experience at the Controller level, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise both staff and clerical employees
Strong analytical skills to interpret financial and operational data effectively
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly motivated, innovative, and capable of making strategic decisions
Nice to have:
CPA certification and/or advanced degrees are highly desirable
