Controller

• Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and month-end close processes
• Prepare and deliver accurate financial statements in compliance with nonprofit accounting standards
• Lead the annual audit process, acting as the primary liaison with external auditors
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, including grant reporting requirements and Form 990 filings
• Develop and enforce robust internal controls and financial policies to safeguard organizational assets
• Collaborate with leadership and program teams to oversee budgeting and forecasting activities
• Monitor cash flow, investments, and overall financial sustainability of the organization
• Provide detailed financial analysis and insights to support strategic initiatives and program outcomes
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering growth and a culture of excellence

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with leadership responsibilities
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting practices and standards
• Experience with grant and fund accounting is highly desirable
• Exceptional analytical and organizational skills, with a focus on problem-solving
• Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying financial information to non-financial audiences
• Proficiency in accounting software and systems relevant to nonprofit organizations
• Prior experience managing audits and ensuring regulatory compliance
