Our client, a highly respected and profitable international organization headquartered in The Woodlands, is seeking a Controller to join their team due to a planned retirement. The Controller will report directly to a technically strong CFO (CPA, public accounting background) who values accuracy, integrity, and a collaborative approach. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the full accounting cycle and supporting financial planning activities for the organization. This individual will lead day-to-day accounting operations while also contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis efforts. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working in the details while also partnering with leadership to drive financial insight.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee and manage the full-cycle accounting process, including: Month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
General ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations
Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies
Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
Partner with the CFO and senior leadership to provide financial insights and recommendations
Manage and develop a small team (AP/AR and Finance professional)
Maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting procedures
Support external audit processes and coordinate with auditors as needed
Assist with process improvements and system efficiencies
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred
Public accounting background required (Big 4 or reputable regional firm preferred)
7+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP
Experience overseeing full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Proven ability to be hands-on while leading a small team
Strong communication skills and ability to interact with senior leadership
