We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in financial planning, reporting, and leadership. As this is a long-term contract position, the ideal candidate will excel in mentoring teams, collaborating with sales on financial strategies, and ensuring accurate and insightful financial analysis. We expect this to be a part-time opportunity with 100% being on-site.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial reports, including dashboards and ad-hoc analyses
Provide leadership and mentorship to finance staff, fostering a collaborative and non-threatening work environment
Collaborate with sales teams to develop financial strategies and analyze key metrics
Manage annual budgeting processes and serve as a trusted advisor to review and refine financial plans
Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and maintain accurate cash flow forecasts
Conduct monthly close processes efficiently and accurately
Perform financial planning and analysis to support strategic decision-making
Act as a second set of eyes for the leadership team, providing insights and feedback on financial initiatives
Utilize Sage or similar tools to streamline financial operations and reporting
Partner with internal teams to optimize day-to-day financial activities
Requirements:
Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting
Strong knowledge of annual budgeting processes and month-end close procedures
Expertise in creating dashboards and conducting ad-hoc financial analyses
Ability to forecast cash flow and manage financial strategies effectively
Familiarity with Sage or similar financial software
Excellent leadership and mentoring skills to guide finance teams
Strong collaboration skills, particularly with sales and other cross-functional teams
Advanced knowledge of financial reporting standards and best practices
