A growing construction organization is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function and oversee all financial operations. This role requires deep expertise in work‑in‑progress (WIP) accounting, percentage‑of‑completion (POC) revenue recognition, and financial management across multiple projects. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and understands the complexities of construction accounting.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, job cost accounting, payroll, fixed assets, and financial reporting
Lead month‑end and year‑end close, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements
Prepare and maintain WIP schedules, analyze project profitability, monitor job margins, and identify areas of risk or opportunity
Manage percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP
Develop, review, and improve job cost reporting, budget vs. actual analysis, and forecasting
Partner with project managers, estimating, and operations leadership to analyze project performance and provide financial insights
Support project billing, contract compliance, change orders, and cost tracking
Assist with cash flow planning, project cash forecasting, and working capital management
Supervise accounting team members
provide coaching, performance reviews, and workload oversight
Strengthen internal controls, streamline processes, and recommend system or procedural enhancements
Ensure compliance with external audits, tax requirements, bonding/insurance reporting, and lender information requests
Requirements:
