We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in the greater Lakeville, Connecticut area. In this long-term contract position, you will play a pivotal role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting the organization's goals.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee month-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Manage donor accounting and endowment fund activities, maintaining compliance with regulations
Prepare and monitor budgets, providing detailed oversight and analysis
Coordinate and support annual external audits, ensuring all financial documentation is accurate and complete
Conduct variance analysis to identify and address discrepancies
Handle general ledger operations and journal entries, maintaining financial integrity
Prepare and submit tax filings, including Form 990, in compliance with regulatory requirements
Forecast financial performance and provide strategic recommendations to support organizational goals
Collaborate with leadership to enhance financial processes and reporting
Requirements:
Proficiency in Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics for financial management
Expertise in managing journal entries and general ledger operations
Experience preparing and overseeing annual budgets
Knowledge of audit procedures, including financial audits and compliance
Familiarity with month-end close processes and related tasks
Ability to prepare and file Tax Form 990 accurately
Strong forecasting and variance analysis skills
Background in nonprofit financial operations is preferred
Nice to have:
