We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead and oversee the financial operations of our organization about 45 minutes north of the Twin Cities. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong foundation in accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance standards. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing financial records, supervising HR documentation, and supporting strategic decision-making processes.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and analyze comprehensive financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
File monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns for multiple entities within the organization
Coordinate hiring processes and manage HR-related activities, including performance reviews and insurance documentation
Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and both month-end and year-end closing procedures
Manage accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure accuracy and timely processing
Conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements
Administer payroll processing and ensure adherence to tax laws and regulations
Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support organizational decision-making and planning
Monitor cash flow and implement cash management strategies to optimize liquidity
Maintain fixed asset records and the organization’s Chart of Accounts
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
certifications such as CPA or CMA are preferred
Significant experience as a Controller or in a senior accounting role, ideally within a manufacturing environment
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Strong knowledge of compliance standards and regulatory reporting requirements
Expertise in financial concepts, including budgeting, forecasting, account reconciliation, and cash management
Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and produce detailed reports
Effective communication abilities for presenting financial insights to internal and external stakeholders
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
