We are looking for a skilled and proactive Controller to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina. In this role, you will oversee financial operations, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and contribute to strategic decision-making. This position requires strong expertise in construction accounting and a hands-on approach to managing financial processes within a dynamic, growing environment.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee job costing, percentage of completion accounting, and detailed financial reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance
Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to support scalability and organizational growth
Manage cash flow effectively, anticipating potential challenges and addressing them proactively
Provide detailed financial oversight for projects, including budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
Ensure the organization is prepared for tax filings, audits, and compliance requirements
Supervise and lead an accounting team of approximately five staff members, fostering their growth and development
Collaborate on strategic financial planning while remaining hands-on in day-to-day operations
Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and construction costs to maintain financial transparency
Drive improvements in processes and systems to support organizational efficiency
Requirements:
Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction accounting or a related field
Proficiency in job costing, percentage of completion accounting, and work-in-progress tracking
Solid understanding of financial reporting and compliance requirements
Demonstrated ability to manage cash flow and prevent financial surprises
Experience in overseeing project-level budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop accounting teams
Strong strategic thinking skills coupled with a hands-on approach
Familiarity with tax, audit readiness, and compliance processes
