We are looking for a Controller to join a growing team in Hyannis, Massachusetts in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position will oversee core accounting operations, payroll administration, financial reporting, and daily fiscal activities while supporting a staff of approximately 35 to 40 employees. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, sound judgment, and the ability to keep financial processes organized, accurate, and on schedule.
Job Responsibility
Direct day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring financial records are maintained accurately and in a timely manner
Manage payroll processing through QuickBooks, including preparing payments and resolving routine payroll questions
Produce and review financial statements, reports, and other accounting documents to support business decisions
Supervise and mentor a small accounting or administrative team of three, setting priorities and monitoring workflow
Maintain organized financial documentation by handling document control, scanning, and compilation of important records
Support month-end and periodic close activities by reviewing entries, reconciling accounts, and verifying data accuracy
Coordinate with leadership on budgeting, cash management, and overall financial performance tracking
Help strengthen internal procedures and improve efficiency across accounting and administrative processes
Requirements
Prior experience serving in a Controller or senior-level accounting leadership role
Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks, including payroll administration and financial reporting
Ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements with a high level of accuracy
Experience leading or supervising a small team in an office environment
Proficiency in document management tasks such as document control, scanning, and compiling records
Solid understanding of payroll processes, account reconciliations, and general accounting principles
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain attention to detail
