We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations and provide dependable financial insight for leadership in Westwego, Louisiana. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate reporting, strengthening internal processes, and guiding the team through monthly and year-end financial activities. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, sound technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to support both day-to-day execution and long-term financial planning.
Job Responsibility
Oversee daily accounting activities to ensure financial records are completed accurately and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved
Manage positive pay activity and related cash control processes to support secure and timely transaction handling
Review departmental workflows, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement more efficient practices while preserving a high standard of accuracy
Prepare and deliver financial analyses, management reports, and ad hoc updates requested by senior leadership
Direct the general ledger function, including oversight of month-end and year-end close activities and coordination of audit readiness efforts
Partner with internal stakeholders and the parent organization on recurring financial reporting, planning initiatives, and broader business support needs
Develop and introduce process enhancements, tools, and department procedures that improve productivity and reporting effectiveness
Lead, coach, and support accounting staff through training, performance feedback, annual goal setting, and resolution of employee relations matters within the department
Contribute to system or process implementation efforts when needed, ensuring accounting requirements are addressed and operational continuity is maintained
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related discipline required
CPA designation, active license, or eligibility to obtain certification required
At least 3 years of relevant experience, including 5 years of leadership or management responsibility in a mid-sized or large accounting environment preferred
Strong knowledge of financial reporting, account reconciliation, general ledger oversight, GAAP, year-end close, and external audit support
Experience in manufacturing or construction environments is preferred
Familiarity with positive pay processes and accounting systems such as AS400 is advantageous
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting with strong organization, judgment, and strategic thinking
Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and team leadership skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization
