Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team on a contract basis in Williamsport, Maryland. This role will support critical financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in accounting processes for a subsidiary within the fire protection industry. The position offers an opportunity to work closely with the finance team to optimize workflows and contribute to construction-related accounting tasks.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage the month-end closing process to deliver timely and precise financial reports
  • Prepare and post journal entries while overseeing general ledger operations
  • Conduct bank and account reconciliations using Sage Intacct
  • Address multi-state payroll accounting challenges and ensure compliance
  • Support the documentation and improvement of new accounting procedures
  • Assist in generating Work In Progress (WIP) reports and handle construction-related accounting responsibilities
  • Collaborate with on-site finance and accounting teams to provide necessary assistance
  • Ensure smooth integration and troubleshooting during system transitions
  • Maintain organization and attention to detail in all accounting tasks

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in month-end closing, journal entries, and reconciliations within a multi-entity environment
  • Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll systems and construction accounting practices
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, on-site environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related financial tools

Nice to have

Familiarity with Work In Progress (WIP) reporting is highly preferred
