We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations and ensure accurate financial processes for a client in the metro Detroit area.
Job Responsibility:
Daily transactional responsibilities, including vendor invoices, raising sales invoices, matching bank receipts, updating operational schedules for invoicing status of projects and bank reconciliations
AR management, monitoring the debtors ledger and chasing payments, resolving customer invoicing queries, dealing with customer exemption certificates, customer onboarding including credit checks
Support Quickbooks inventory control including BOMs, pricing and inventory movements
Management of the accounting email inbox, dealing with customer, supplier and colleague queries in a timely manner
Quickbooks management, including supplier set-ups and template management
Reconciliation of credit card and staff expenses, ensuring relevant approvals are received and expenditure is accurately allocated to GL codes and cost centres
AP management, including initiating payment runs, sending remittances to suppliers, resolving supplier invoicing queries
Inventory accounting management, liaising with purchasing and operations to resolve inventory issues, inventory item set-up, review of inventory carrying amount and freight costs
Liaising with operations to own inventory quantity and valuation accuracy, improving operational processes to maintain accuracy
Ownership of sales tax and income tax processes, liaising with our external advisors
Assisting the UK-based team with the month end process, including accruals and prepayments, depreciation journals, intercompany reconciliations, goods-in-transit, revenue recognition and balance sheet reconciliation
Supporting the Management Accountant with variance commentary, utilizing your detailed awareness of transactions during the month
Identifying savings and cost efficiencies across the business
Assisting with the year-end processes, including auditor, tax and accounts queries
Ownership of company compliance across business registration, taxation and regulatory filings
Requirements:
Bach degree in accounting or finance
QuickBooks needed
5 years + accounting and finance experience preferring manufacturing
Some ERP experience
Inventory and some tax experience (sales tax, tax compliance) needed
Nice to have:
CPA and/or MBA a plus
