We are looking for a detail-oriented Controller to support financial operations and document management activities for a Contract position based in Augusta, Maine. This role combines core accounting oversight with hands-on responsibility for maintaining organized records, processing scanned documentation, and supporting accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical ability, sound reconciliation experience, and a disciplined approach to month-end activities in a structured business environment.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee daily accounting activities while ensuring financial records are complete, accurate, and properly maintained
Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to support reliable cash reporting
Lead month-end close tasks, including reviewing balances, preparing supporting schedules, and confirming timely completion of deliverables
Analyze financial data and prepare clear summaries that help stakeholders understand performance and variances
Manage document control processes by organizing, tracking, and maintaining financial and operational records
Scan, compile, and archive business documents in a consistent manner to support accessibility, accuracy, and compliance
Review scanned files for completeness and legibility, correcting indexing or filing issues when needed
Coordinate with internal teams to gather required documentation and ensure records are submitted and stored appropriately.
Requirements:
At least 5 years of experience in accounting, controllership, or a related financial management role
Demonstrated background in bank reconciliations, month-end close, and financial analysis
Experience handling document control and high-volume document scanning with strong attention to detail
Ability to compile, organize, and maintain records in a structured and audit-ready format
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices
Proficiency with standard business software and accounting systems used for reporting and recordkeeping
Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently in a Contract position.
