Job Description

A well-established, mission-driven nonprofit with a strong regional footprint is hiring a Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations in a complex, multi-entity environment. This is a hands-on leadership role with real impact and long-term upside.

Job Responsibility

  • Own day-to-day accounting: journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and consolidations
  • Ensure GAAP-compliant financial reporting in a nonprofit environment
  • Support audits and serve as primary contact for external auditors
  • Partner with leadership on reporting, controls, and process improvements
  • Support centralized accounting for multiple regional locations
  • Help build the function for future growth

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance (CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred)
  • 5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong GAAP and financial reporting background
  • Nonprofit and/or grant-funded accounting experience preferred
  • Comfortable being hands-on while operating at a leadership level
  • Prior audit support experience required
